AIM: The purpose of this unit is to cover basic drawing materials and skills. It will cover basic line, shape, and form drawing skills to improve accuracy in drawing from life observations. Also covered is basic shading techniques using pen & ink techniques as well as the more common blending method of shading. Instruction on drawing one point and two point perspective will also be included.
Contour drawing of images involves closer observation of your drawing subject. You will improve your eye-hand coordination as you practice contour drawing and complete the practice exercises provided in this unit.
CROSS CONTOUR DRAWING
Cross Contour drawing allows the artist to create a more three dimensional looking object without the use of basic value shading.
Gestural drawings are quick studies or sketches of the subject meant to capture a certain pose or layout and is commonly used in preliminary sketches that are used to develop the subject more completely on canvas or other more finished surfaces.
Perspective drawing is one of the best skills you can add to your artistic background to improve accuracy in drawing and painting everything three dimensional. One Point Perspective and Two Point Perspective will be covered.
FORM DRAWING & SHADING
Learning to draw and shade 3D forms accurately requires careful observation of light and how it affects the appearance of the object you are drawing. Learning to shade three dimensional objects more accurately is an important skill needed to improve your artistic ability.

Using Pen & Ink shading and texturing techniques will take your artwork to a whole new level of awesomeness.
Learning to use a Grid Drawing system has proven very successful by helping them with correct placement and proportion of facial features.
